SNP’s mission is to ensure that New York City’s low-income communities have access to safe and secure housing and fundamental resources like food and cash assistance. SNP combines direct legal services, policy advocacy, and community organizing to strengthen safety net programs proven to reduce poverty and homelessness.
SNP provides free legal services to low and no-income households to help New York City’s most vulnerable members avoid eviction, obtain necessary repairs to their apartments, and obtain crucial public benefits. SNP operates five legal clinics at food pantries, soup kitchens, and community health centers throughout New York City. SNP is also a member of New York City’s Right to Counsel initiative, which seeks to ensure that New York City’s poorest tenants have access to an attorney to represent them in housing court.
SNP strives to ensure that New York City’s most vulnerable members have access to the resources necessary to live with dignity and respect. SNP believes that no one, in a world of abundance, should lack for healthy food, clean clothing, safe and secure shelter, and free quality education and healthcare. Further, SNP is committed to developing, supporting, and organizing its clients into community leaders by providing them with the resources necessary and a platform to share their stories of poverty, struggle, and resilience.
